I've been fortunate to have an op-ed gig somewhere all my adult life, so naturally I do make a practice of looking back to see whether I got things right. I also recycle things when I can.
This column first appeared in Indian Country Today the same day the current Pope was elected. My reason for picking it for recycle is not that I think it holds up well in light of subsequent events (it does) but because because of a previous diary published here that offended Baptists.
I wish to make the point that when it comes to monotheistic patriarchal desert cults, I practice equal opportunity ridicule. They do more harm than good, but they are so powerful there's no rational response but to make fun of them.
I include the original link below. If you click on my name, it brings up a chronological list of my stuff, but I'll warn in advance much of it is esoteric to Indian Country.
