It's becoming clear why I don't really have the right stuff to be a rich man.
My wife and I have real IRAs that are about to shrink when the GOP opens another set of self-inflicted wounds in our body politic next month. Pick your poison:
1. The continuing resolution to fund the government because (both houses having finally passed a budget) the Tea Party objects to a House-Senate conference committee to iron out the differences as has been done since the legislative mind runneth not to the contrary--but now a conference committee is an elitist conspiracy. So they don't want to reconcile a real budget and they don't want to pass a continuing resolution without defunding Obamacare, which the POTUS, rightly, will not sign.
2. Worse, we are at the debt ceiling again. The last time we were here, our sovereign debt got a credit downgrade that cost us some serious bucks. In spite of which, the Fed was able to sit on interest rates and make it possible to fix our crumbling infrastructure and put people to work at bargain prices...which we did not do. And now....it's back!
If I had the right stuff, nothing could outweigh these slow motion train wrecks.
